STORM ACROSS THE SAHEL is a collection of 13 short stories portraying life in the new social, economic, and political structure created by the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno, Yobe, and other parts of Northeastern Nigeria.
Set mainly in Gombe, the collection explores psychosocial issues such as anxiety, fear, uncertainty, loss, grief, memory, love, trust, infidelity, drug abuse, post-partum anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the choice, decision, and indecision of victims of violence and exploitation in the process of recovery, redemption, and self-fulfilment.
About the Author
ALIYU DANLADI is an essayist, poet and short story writer. Born in Gombe State, he is currently a student at Bayero University, Kano, where he participates in students’ unionism. He also engages in advocacy for youth awareness, good governance, and community development. Some of his writings have appeared in online and print media including The Kalahari Review, The People’s Daily, TheArtsMuseFair, Opinion Nigeria, and other online and print media.
